At Square, sustainability is a responsibility we act on every day. It shapes how we power our factories, design our packaging, construct our buildings and develop our products. It also guides how we work with the communities around us. From renewable energy and water security to circular business practices, each of our initiatives reflects a belief that long-term business success and environmental stewardship go hand in hand.
By 2030, Rupshi Factory will generate 1.3 MW of clean solar energy, meeting approximately 60% of its total electricity demand through renewable sources. This is a major stride toward a more sustainable and energy-resilient future, and a lasting investment in a greener generation.
Water is among our most valuable resources. Our rainwater harvesting initiative stores rainwater for use across our operations, which enhances water security, supports sanitation and greenery, and strengthens the sustainability of our everyday work.
We have set out to rethink how our products are packaged. Today, 100% of our plastic containers are recyclable. Over the last couple of years, we have steadily reduced plastic usage and moved away from single-layer packaging, working toward a more sustainable future.
This transformation is built on practical, measurable changes. We are replacing PVC shrink with 5,200 kg of recyclable LDPE shrink every year. We are also developing mono-material, foil-free packaging structures that make recycling easier and more effective. In addition, we have reduced the thickness of our PE layer from 85 GSM to 68 GSM and lowered the weight of our PET.
Together, these efforts have reduced resin consumption by 43.3 MT per year. Of this, direct PET and PE savings account for 12,336 kg per year, while the use of PCR and recyclable materials accounts for a further 31,050 kg per year. This translates into an estimated reduction of 86.7 t CO₂e in carbon emissions and an estimated energy saving of 876,600 kWh annually.

Our commitment to the environment extends to the products we create. Senora Bio is the only biodegradable sanitary napkin in Bangladesh, and it stands as proof of our earnest dedication to developing products that care for both people and the planet.
Environmental responsibility is built into our infrastructure from the ground up. All new buildings are designed to maximize natural daylight, reducing dependence on artificial lighting and conserving energy. This approach embeds sustainability into the very structure of STL’s facilities.
True sustainability extends beyond factory boundaries. In partnership with BRAC and Pabna Municipality, Square is supporting the development of a sustainable municipal waste management system. The initiative aims to improve waste collection and disposal, promote waste segregation and recycling, and engage schools, markets and local communities. It also strengthens the skills and occupational safety of municipal waste workers, whose work is essential to the health of the city.
Through this partnership, we are helping reduce plastic pollution, encouraging responsible waste practices and contributing to a cleaner, healthier and more liveable city.
Sustainability is also reflected in the everyday details of how we operate. Square is incorporating recycled paper into office stationery and recycled plastic into a growing range of product and promotional materials. These initiatives reflect our commitment to reducing reliance on virgin materials, minimizing waste, and embedding responsible resource use across our business operations and consumer touchpoints.
Each of these initiatives, from solar power and rainwater harvesting to recyclable packaging, biodegradable products, daylight-led design, community partnerships and recycled materials, is a step in a larger journey. At Square, we remain committed to growing responsibly and creating lasting value for our communities and the environment.
